Watch the unforgettable moment a man proposes after rekindling high school romance 60 years later

A couple has demonstrated that true love endures by announcing their engagement six decades after falling in love during high school.

True love can often feel like a fictional concept only see in books and romantic comedies, think The Notebook or Ghost.

Over the course of life, people we once shared strong connections with in our youth often drift apart due to life’s challenges, making it difficult to stay in touch.

The sweet story of Thomas and Nancy, however, is living proof that feelings can remain unchanged even after years have passed, as they are set to tie the knot 60 years after sparks initially flew.

Their recent engagement took place at an airport and was documented on TikTok by one of Thomas’ colleagues, with emotional well-wishers surrounding the couple.

Having initiated their romance in high school nearly six decades ago, they eventually lost contact after their first relationship didn’t work out. Last month, the couple reunited, and their connection was as strong as ever, and they both felt as if no time had passed. After spending weeks talking to each other, Nancy flew to Tampa to meet Thomas, and it was there that Thomas got down on one knee, leaving everyone in tears, and asked the question.

During his heartfelt speech, Thomas expressed his love, saying: “My dear Nancy, it has been 60 years since we first met, 56 years since we first dated, 10 years since I last saw you, and 20 days since we reconnected.”

He reminisced about the crush he had on her since her cheerleader days, and how seeing her still brings a smile to his face and makes his heart skip a beat. He confessed that he had thought of her every day for the past three weeks and had spent hours talking to her every night.

Thomas further revealed his joy at being able to hold Nancy in his arms after all these years, emphasizing that her inner and outer beauty has always captivated him.

He pledged to make every day an exciting adventure, wanting to grow old with her, wake up in her arms each morning, share dreams and aspirations, and support each other through thick and thin.Thomas ended by expressing his love for Nancy, promising to spend the rest of his life making sure she is happy and that she knows she is loved.
