Trump’s niece warns he’ll want to be ‘president for life’ if re-elected

Donald Trump’s niece, Marry Trump — the daughter of his late brother Frank who died of heart-attack in 1981 — has been a vocal critic of her uncle.

In 2020, she published the all-tell book Too Much and Never Enough in which she wrote about Donald and the Trump family.

Among the rest, she wrote in the book that the president is “utterly incapable of leading this country and it’s dangerous to allow him to do so.”

Trump’s niece dubbed his return to Office for the second time “uniquely dangerous times.”

During a recent interview with The Telegraph Marry expressed her fears of her uncle aiming to remain president for life. She believes he would intend to do so in case he’s given the opportunity to run for the third time, which is currently not allowed based on the Constitution.

Regardless of what the law states, Trump recently claimed there was a “loophole” that he could use.

So far, Donald Trump has opened up about the idea of a third term a number of times, but not many believed he was serious – unless not until recently, when he clearly hinted there are ways for him to continue his presidency beyond 2028.

“A lot of people want me to do it. But, I mean, I basically tell them we have a long way to go, you know, it’s very early in the administration,” he explained. “I’m focused on the current.

“I like working. I’m not joking. But I’m not – it is far too early to think about it,” he said, adding “there are methods which you could do it.”

Speaking of this possibility, Marry Trump said of her uncle that “It’s not about whether or not he’ll run. It’s about whether or not he’ll leave. It’s more likely that he’ll just say, ‘I’m president for life and I’m not going anywhere’. And he’ll challenge people to get rid of him.

“What enforcement mechanism is there to drag the guy who just lost the election but is in the Oval Office? How do you get rid of him? We don’t know, because we’ve never had this problem. I think he’s willing to challenge that.”

She added: “America is a deeply broken country and it has been for a long time. Donald is not an anomaly. He is, I think, the logical conclusion to the last 40 years of Republican degradation.”

She has also criticized the Democrats for failing to prepare better for the elections.

“The Democrats continue to not just fail to meet the moment, they fail to understand the moment… And one of my biggest criticisms of the Biden administration is that they didn’t see a second Trump term coming and they failed to prepare adequately.” she said.

“Part of it was complacency, part of it was just a failure of understanding where people in this country were. Part of it was honestly just failing to recognise what was happening globally.

“Incumbents in every single country, regardless of political affiliation, were losing by massive margins.”
