Be careful! Don’t touch the bottle.

Thieves have a new way to steal cars. They might watch you by putting

a water bottle on your tire. This trick started in Limpopo, South Africa, and

now happens in other places like the US. Unveiling the Carjacking Scheme

To stay safe, it’s important to know how this car stealing trick works.

The thieves use the water bottle as a signal. They put it on the front passenger-

side wheel so you won’t notice it when you get in your car.

When you hear the plastic bottle getting crushed, it surprises you. You might stop

to check what you hit. This gives the thief a chance to do something. If your keys are

in the car and it’s on, they can steal it fast. Or they might take your stuff like phones

or wallets while you’re not looking. If you get out of the car to see what happened, you’re in danger.
