Queensland Crash Claims Father and Two Children in Devastating Tragedy
What was meant to be the joyful end of a family camping trip turned tragic on July 20, 2025, when Shaun Ranger,
a devoted father of three, was killed in a head-on collision along Queensland’s Capricorn Highway.
His two children, Baylee (7) and Chandler (6), and family friend Corey also perished when their vehicle erupted in flames following the crash.
Only Shaun’s fiancée, Renee Carla Jenkins, and their 2-year-old daughter Saphora—traveling in a separate car—survived.
The collision involved a Toyota Hilux traveling in the opposite direction. One driver remains in critical condition,
and another is hospitalized. Authorities described the scene as “horrific,” with police urging
drivers to recognize how “a split second can have lifelong consequences.”
Renee, now facing unimaginable grief, said, “My heart has been ripped to shreds.” Shaun was remembered
as a loving, dedicated father; Baylee as a warm, horse-loving child; and Chandler as curious and gentle.
The tight-knit community of Blackwater held a candlelight vigil and launched a GoFundMe to support Renee and Saphora.
As the investigation continues, a mother and daughter begin a life marked by deep loss—but also by love and the memories of a cherished family.
