Women reveal how long they would actually like sex to last

How long sex “should” last is a question for which it is hard to provide an answer. Some might prefer the act to be longer or shorter. Now, perhaps we have found an answer. A new survey reveals how long women like sex to last. And it might not adapt to the reality that many couples face.

To begin with, it’s important to state that there is no “medically correct” answer as to how long sex should last. There are many factors at play, and no scientist in the world can give a right-or-wrong answer.

Meanwhile, studies and surveys can offer hints about what could be considered average. However, in the end, it all comes down to what the idnivudla prefer, and partners might not even have the same needs or expectations.

For example, one study measured the time from the moment of penetration to ejaculation, called intra-ejaculatory latency time, and found that sex lasts about five minutes on average.

Meanwhile, men tend to think their own sex life lasts longer – about nine minutes. According to studies, the “ideal” length is around 16 minutes. What can we learn from this? Reality is very different from what people imagine when it comes to how long sex “should “last.

So, one might wonder what women’s opinion on this is. In 2019, GQ writer Sophia Benoit decided to research the subject by simply asking women and noting their answers.

She found women generally wanted sex to last between five and ten minutes, but longer with foreplay beforehand. Also, she noted that many studies only counted penetrative sex, which, by definition, isn’t the full sexual experience for many.

“It turns out people consistently say that they want sex to last longer than it does. Almost everyone I informally interviewed felt that their answers were shorter than average, when in reality almost all of them were either in line with or above the average duration of sex, which is around 5.4 minutes,” she wrote.

Women don’t want sex for “more than 15 minutes,” expert says

A few years ago, Psychiatrist Dr Alok Kanoija appeared on an episode of Steven Bartlett’s Diary of a CEO podcast together with sexual health expert Dr Rena Malik, and adult film director Erika Lust to talk about the “ideal” length of sex.

“If you look at the average [length] of sexual intercourse, it’s three to seven minutes,” Dr Kanojia explained, adding that 50 percent of women he’d spoken to don’t want sex for “more than 15 minutes.”

Meanwhile, Dr Malik explained that the length of time needed to climax also differs between men and women. A man needs, on average, five to six minutes to ejaculate, while a woman may take as long as 14 minutes.

To conclude, there is no “ideal” length of sex, but everything comes down to what you, as an individual, like and what you and your partner want. No matter what, the main takeaways are to be comfortable in your own skin and enjoy yourself.
