Woman slashed Leonardo DiCaprio’s face mistaking him for ex

Leonardo DiCaprio is arguably one of the biggest actors in the world. The actor is known for various roles he has played over the course of his career and has won countless awards for them.

However, a little known story from earlier in his career is as scary as it is unbelievable. Keep reading to know more.

In 2010, Aretha Wilson, did not contest to assaulting Leonardo DiCaprio with a deadly weapon which in 2005, left the movie star requiring 17 stitches.

But before she accepted the charges, she tried to give what she said was her side of the story. In 2005, at a party, the woman was said to have attacked DiCaprio with a drinking glass.

Her lawyers argued that the following court case and charges were a ‘cover-up’ from DiCaprio. She had requested at the time toxicology reports from the night of the attack and DiCaprio’s medical records as well as any ‘rap sheet’ to his name.

She admitted that she had taunted the actor and referred to him and his friends with slurs, calling them a derogatory term for queer people. Her lawyer at the time said that this enraged DiCaprio who began to approach her threateningly and she suggested, “Why don’t you go [sodomize] each other.”

As a response to this story, DiCaprio’s lawyer Blair Berk said this was all, “outrageous lies and a classic case of trying to re-victimize a victim in a violent assault.”

He went on saying, “That this woman became a fugitive from justice for five years to avoid responsibility and that Mr. DiCaprio has fully cooperated with the prosecution from Day 1 should say everything. This woman has a long criminal history of violent criminal attacks on others and should be given no attention whatsoever.”

This was however not the first time Wilson was involved in violence. And following the attack, she fled the U.S. and had been on the run for five years which is why the court case took place 5 years after the initial attack. She was apprehended in Canada in 2010 and was then held in Los Angeles where she was held on a $150,000 bail as she awaited trial.

DiCaprio did not attend the hearings in 2010. She would stand to get a sentence of 7 years if the case went to full trial and found her guilty. It was resolved before going to full trial, with accepted the charges with no contest. She was sentence to prison for two years, and recieved credit for days already served, with the rest of her time remaining to be served coming up to six months.
