Wheel of Fortune Contestant Struggles With $40K Puzzle

Viewers of Wheel of Fortune were buzzing after Adam Wredberg’s impressive run came to a dramatic close during the Bonus Round. While some felt the final puzzle was unusually tough, others believed he had enough clues to crack it. Wredberg started strong, solving the first puzzle quickly and racking up $13,100 along with a Tahitian cruise in the Mystery Round.

His momentum carried through the main game, where he closed with nearly $30,000 in winnings and two trips, setting him up as a top contender. But the high-stakes Bonus Round brought disappointment. Standing with host Ryan Seacrest and his family, Wredberg chose the category What Are You Wearing?

After picking his letters, the board revealed: “M _ F _ N _ _ _ L O T _ E S.” With the standard set “R, S, T, L, N, E” plus his chosen letters “M, F, G, O,” he had 10 seconds to solve. He tried answers like “My fun clothes” and even joked with “My funcles,” but the correct solution was “My Fancy Clothes.” Missing it meant losing out on a $40,000 prize, as the audience groaned in sympathy and social media lit up with debate.

Fans were divided. Some defended Wredberg, calling the puzzle “tricky under pressure,” while others argued the solution was clear. Despite the miss, Wredberg stayed gracious, smiling as the audience cheered. The episode became a memorable reminder that even the best players can stumble when the clock is ticking.
