In her final months, Keaton’s health declined unexpectedly, and even close friends were unaware of the seriousness of her condition. Earlier in life, she had been open about her battles with cancer and bulimia. Diagnosed with skin cancer at 21, she maintained strict sun protection habits throughout her life.

Beyond acting, Keaton was a director, photographer, and author, known for her distinctive fashion sense and commitment to social causes. In her memory, her family encourages donations to local food banks or animal shelters, honoring her lifelong support for the unhoused and her love for animals.
