Sneakers tied together by their laces and tossed onto power lines used to be more common. While it seemed like something neighborhood kids did, several theories explain its meaning.
One theory suggests that soldiers tossed their boots on power lines after completing training or assignments, which could have inspired other theories.
Another belief is that gangs use shoes on power lines to mark territory, although this remains unproven. Some think it’s a result of bullying, as seen in movies where bullies throw shoes onto power lines. However, the most common theory, and the one I believe, is that it’s just a fun thing for kids to do with old shoes. It’s simply kids being kids.
