Retired South Carolina couple found dead in their home as police shares update

A longtime married couple has been found dead in their home in South Carolina. 76-year-old Larry Moore and his wife, Sandra Moore, 75, were found deceased with the cause of death being ‘traumatic injuries.’ Now, the police department asks the public for help.

The Oconee County Coroner’s Office in South Carolina has shared the devastating news that 76-year-old Larry Moore and his wife, 75-year-old Sandra Moore, have been found dead in their South Carolina home, located on Cromer Moore Drive near Longcreek Highway in Westminster.

On Thursday, 911 Oconee Communications received a report shortly after 9 pm that they had been found deceased. Per WSPA, the longtime married couple was found by a family member during a welfare check after several attempts to reach them.

“From what we understand, evidence that we gathered, the victims had not been heard from since earlier in the week,” Corporal Jimmy Watt with the sheriff’s office said.

The death of Larry and Sandra Moore is investigated as a double homicide. Police were on the scene Friday to investigate.

The coroner’s office has announced that they died from traumatic injuries. However, details about the specific injuries are withheld “to protect the integrity of the ongoing sheriff department investigation.”

As reported by WYFF, authorities have chosen not to disclose details on when the couple was possibly killed or how long they had been deceased before they were discovered. Moreover, the sheriff’s office stated that the incident is isolated and therefore concluded that there is no danger to the public.

Larry Moore and his wife, Sandra, were a beloved couple in the community, per WYFF. On Facebook, their church, Calvaru Church, released a statement on Friday, mourning their longtime members.

“Calvary Family, it is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of two of our longtime and most faithful members, Brother Larry and Sister Sandra Moore. Please join us in lifting the entire Moore family—and all who loved them—in your prayers during this difficult time,” the church wrote.

Investigators are asking the public for help, requesting that anyone in the area equipped with home security cameras who may have observed suspicious behavior between Tuesday evening and Thursday morning of last week contact the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office at (864) 638-4111.

“If people were driving through that area, maybe people who live in the area, maybe they saw something that was suspicious or something that didn’t seem right, Corporal Jimmy Watt said.

Tips that lead to an arrest could be eligible for a cash reward.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Moore family. May they rest in peace.
