Prince William and his brother, Prince Harry, haven’t spoken for years. The question is whether they will ever make amends. While the Duke wrote about his brother and his wife, Kate Middleton, in his tell-all memoir Spare, William has not spoken about his brother in public. Until now.

When Prince Harry left the royal family, his relationship with his brother, and future king, Prince William, was destroyed. They had been extremely close during their childhood, but as soon as Harry left with Meghan, it was over.

Rumors have it that the two haven’t spoken since the Duke left, and William has never talked about his brother in public. Even though Harry said both this and that about William as well as the future queen and his sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, William decided to stay quiet.

Harry wrote many things about his brother in Spare, including claiming that William and he had a physical confrontation in 2019. But earlier this year, reports suggested that Harry regretted writing about his brother in the book.

Even if Harry would like a reunion with his brother and the rest of the Royal Family, Prince William doesn’t seem interested. According to royal expert Jennie Bond, burying the hatchet with his brother isn’t remotely close to the top of his list of priorities. Surprisingly, when Prince Harry celebrated his birthday, a greeting was sent from William and Kate’s official social media accounts.

“I still think things are too sensitive for a meaningful reconciliation with William, but the fact that he and Catherine authorised the greeting to be posted is definitely an unexpected turn of events,” Bond told OK! last year, referring to the Prince and Princess of Wales’ happy birthday post to Harry.

“William has so much on his plate at the moment that I don’t think he has room in his heart or head to deal with all that has gone on with Harry. While the brothers may never be close again, or even live on the same continent, it doesn’t mean that the future has to be full of bitterness and bad blood. Catherine is right. Family should always be paramount.”

Prince William has never publicly mentioned Harry’s name after the royal split. But now he has, although it wasn’t about their relationship today .

On the television show The Reluctant Traveller, which aired on AppleTV+, Prince William spoke about his öife and family. He also discussed his future plans, hoping that the past won’t repeat itself once he ascends the throne.

“I hope we don’t go back to some of the practices in the past that Harry and I had to grow up in. And I’ll do everything I can to make sure we don’t regress in that situation,” William said, per the Express.

So why did William decide this was the moment he would mention Harry? Royal expert Jennie Bond told the Mirror, “The mention of Harry is indeed fleeting and I think it would be wrong to spend much time talking about it. But I suppose it does show that William hasn’t blocked his brother completely from his brain.”

She added, “It was only natural for him to include Harry when talking about his childhood, but I don’t think we should read more into it than that. On the programme as a whole, I think it was an extraordinary insight into who William really is.

Bond concluded, “We all think we know him, at least as a prince, but this was a glimpse behind the mask at the man who will be King. The words that screamed out at me were his unequivocal intention to question whether certain aspects of the monarchy are fit for purpose.”
