Pit bull anxiously looks on as grandma mends his favorite stuffed animal after accident

Many people grow up with a favorite toy or blanket, it is something that provides comfort when the world all becomes a little too much.

And humans are not the only creatures who seek comfort in some beloved childhood (or puppyhood) toy.

One sweet pittie puppy from Jacksonville, Florida has a soft heart-shaped pillow that he loves.
Draco has had his pillow from as early as anyone can remember, his mom, Allie O’Cain, rescued him from a puppy mill when he was only 2 weeks old, and he’s had the stuffy ever since.

He brings the pillow on many of his adventures and protects it with as much zeal as a mother protecting their child.

One day, when playing with one of his friends, a black lab named Willow, the unthinkable happened.
Willow picked up the pillow and Draco rushed over to save his stuffy, but in doing so, pulled a little too hard and the poor pillow ripped.

Draco was visibly crestfallen and everyone worried that would be the end of the toy.

That was until Grandma came to the rescue!
“I’ll fix it, Draco!” Allie’s mom cried as she rushed to scoop up the pillow and some of its fallen stuffing then quickly brought it over to her sewing machine.

She worked diligently to restuff and sew Draco’s prized possession back together, and he was by her side the entire time.

“He acted as if his wife was in surgery.” Allie wrote on her Facebook page about the situation.
And it was true, Draco sat beside his grandma the whole time and never took his eyes off the toy.

With his head and paws up on the table, Draco never looked away from the operation and held his breath until he knew his pillow was safe.

When the pillow was resewn, Draco took it gingerly in his mouth and brought it back to his bed where he snuggled with it for the rest of the night.
Though it is now an old toy and may continue to get rips or holes in it, Allie and her mom are dedicated to repairing it every single time.

They know it brings their boy lots of comfort and will do whatever it takes to keep him happy.

Allie wants people to know that, while pit bulls have gotten a bad rap in the past, they are really just big babies.
They are affectionate and protective, good with other dogs and children, and are just generally pleasant dogs to be around.

Their sweet and silly nature pairs well with their adorable, big-eyed, baby seal face.

If you are looking for a new dog for your family, don’t count pit bulls out just because of their unwarranted reputation.
It is important to remember that all dogs have the capacity for good, and all dogs have the capacity for bad… it is all about the training you raise them with, and the love you give.
