Pamela Anderson recalls Hugh Hefner request that made her leave Playboy Mansion

Pamela Anderson has long been one of the most unforgettable figures in Playboy history.

And when Hugh Hefner passed away, she thanked him for shaping the woman she became.

But years later, the Baywatch legend revealed that one shocking request from Hefner made her realize it was time to walk away from the Playboy Mansion for good.

Behind the glamour and the glitz

Pamela Anderson has always been one of the most iconic figures in Playboy history, but even the Baywatch icon admits there came a shocking moment when she knew she had to walk away from it all.

The Canadian-born actress and model, now 58, rose to fame in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s after appearing on multiple Playboy covers, eventually setting a record for the most cover appearances in the magazine’s history.

She was named Playmate of the Month in February 1990 and quickly became one of the most recognizable faces of the brand. But as Anderson revealed years later, behind the glamour and the glitz of the Playboy Mansion was an experience that changed everything for her.

”I followed them upstairs..”

In a 2018 interview on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, Pamela opened up about a night at Hugh Hefner’s mansion that left her deeply uncomfortable, and ultimately led her to leave.

”I followed them upstairs. I thought, ‘What could be going on up here?”” she recalled.

”Seven girls, one at a time with Hef,” she revealed. ”I was stood at the end of the bed watching them and then I realized they were watching me. I thought, ‘This is not a movie. I need to leave’.”

Despite that unsettling experience, Anderson has never denied the impact Hugh Hefner had on her life and career. Following his death in 2017, she described him as one of the “most important people” in her life outside of family.

“Everything anyone loves about me is because you understood me. Accepted me and encouraged me to be myself… You said the magazine was about a girl like me,” she wrote in a heartfelt tribute after his passing.

“I will miss your everything. Thank you for making the world a better place. A freer and sexier place. You were a gentleman — charming, elegant, chivalrous, and so much fun.”

Today, Pamela Anderson has fully embraced a new chapter. She’s busier than ever with multiple film projects in the works, including the new Naked Gun movie, and continues to be praised for her authenticity and grace.

While the Playboy Mansion will always be part of her story, Pamela’s decision to walk away proved to be one of the most defining moments of her career, and her life.
