Man shows groceries he bought for $100: “It’s getting to the point where people can’t live.”

Have you ever been at the grocery store, gotten to the checkout, and been floored by the total?
It’s a common experience these days. We’re not talking about luxury items here – just the basics like milk, bread, and eggs.

Yet, it feels like we’re being forced to choose between keeping a roof over our heads and eating decently.

This dilemma isn’t just ours; it’s a widespread issue.

And it’s not about cutting out the occasional treat anymore; we’re talking about scrimping on the essentials.

This is where Carenstino, a TikTok user, steps in.

Frustrated with the situation, he decided to document and share his experience.

He recorded a video showing what $100 gets you at the grocery store today, and the result is startling.
“I’m practically shaking from disbelief,” he said in the video.

His words capture a grim reality:

“It has gotten to the point that people can’t live.”

In his video, Carenstino displays his groceries on his kitchen island.
The items barely cover the surface, a visual testament to his point.

“You’re telling me this is $100? This isn’t even barely anything to feed me for a couple of days,” he says, his voice tinged with disbelief.

His haul included a small pack of chicken, a dozen eggs, some rice, juice bottles, body wash, deodorant, English muffins, stationery, and a few energy drinks.

“Excuse me? $100 for this?” he questions, clearly astounded.

It’s easy to assume he shopped at an upscale store, but that’s not the case.

Even a mental estimate at a regular grocery store wouldn’t come close to $100 for these items.

It seems like a cruel joke, and the internet community agrees.

People on TikTok expressed their shock and frustration.

One user reminisced, “I used to make family dinner for $40 six years ago. The same exact dinner now costs $90.”

Another commented, “Grocery prices have become absurdly high.”

In a surprising revelation, someone noted, “We’ve literally hit the point where it’s now cheaper to eat out.”
But is there a light at the end of the tunnel?

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported a 5.8% increase in grocery prices this May compared to last year.

However, there’s a glimmer of hope.

Recent statistics suggest that prices might be stabilizing.

So, we keep our fingers crossed.

For now, we must brace ourselves.
