Limp Bizkit bassist Sam Rivers heartbreaking last post

The death of Sam Rivers, Limp Bizkit’s bassist has broken hearts all over the world. Fans of the band are inconsolable over the news of their favorite bassist’s death at 48 years old.

And Rivers’ last post to his Instagram profile shows how much he loved his fans back.

On Sunday, October 19, 2025, Limp Bizkit announced the death of their beloved bassist, Sam Rivers. They described the artists as ‘pure magic’ and a ‘once-in-a-lifetime kind of human’.

“In Loving Memory of Our Brother, Sam Rivers. Today we lost our brother. Our bandmate. Our heartbeat,” Limp Bizkit they wrote in the post on Instagram.

“Sam Rivers wasn’t just our bass player — he was pure magic. The pulse beneath every song, the calm in the chaos, the soul in the sound.”

The group shared their feelings on Rivers, saying he ‘brought a light and a rhythm that could never be replaced’. Rivers founded the bad with Fred Durst and John Otto. The group went on to recieve three Grammy nominations and became one of the biggest Nu metal acts in the world.

“His talent was effortless, his presence unforgettable, his heart enormous,” they wrote in their heartfelt statement. “He was a once-in-a-lifetime kind of human. A true legend of legends. And his spirit will live forever in every groove, every stage, every memory.”

“We love you, Sam. We’ll carry you with us, always. Rest easy, brother. Your music never ends,” his bandmates said in the statement.

The statement came just hours after Rivers shared on his Instagram, a video which was soundtracked with The Cars’ 1978 hit Good Times Roll. The post would be the last he would make on the platform.

The clip celebrated the 25th anniversary of  Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water, which was the band’s third album.

The LP was released on October 16, 2000 with 15 tracks and still holds the record of the fastest selling rock album of all time. Some of the popular songs on it include ‘My Generation’ and ‘Rollin’ (Air Raid Vehicle)’.

The caption was simple, with the artist writing, “Nothing but love.”

He also used his last post to promote Limp Bizkit’s newly announced headline slot at the Rock For People festival.

The band was finally confirmed to play at the Czechia-based festival beside previously confirmed acts including Iron Maiden and Bring Me The Horizon.

The band was set to take the stage on June 11, 2026. The announcement came after the band released their first single in four years, ‘Making Love To Morgan Wallen’, in September this year.

The tributes to Rivers have been pouring in from all over the world. In 2015, Rivers left Limp Bizkit citing liver disease caused by ‘excessive’ drinking as the reason.

He wrote about his health troubles in his book, Raising Hell: Backstage Tales From the Lives of Metal Legends. He wrote, “I had to leave Limp Bizkit in 2015 because I felt so horrible, and a few months after that I realized I had to change everything because I had really bad liver disease.”

“I quit drinking and did everything the doctors told me. I got treatment for the alcohol and got a liver transplant, which was a perfect match,” he told fans as per Variety.

Three years later, he rejoined the band.

The cause of death for Rivers is currently unknown.
