More than a month after the untimely death of celebrity chef Anne Burrell in June 2025, the cause has been confirmed as suicide. On July 24, the New York City Medical Examiner revealed that her death was a result of acute intoxication, caused by a toxic mix of amphetamines, antihistamines, and alcohol. This revelation has stunned fans and family alike, adding a somber final chapter to her already turbulent life.
Burrell, celebrated for her role on Worst Cooks in America and other Food Network shows, was found unconscious in her Brooklyn home on June 17. Her husband, Stuart Claxton, discovered her hours after their last interaction. Despite frantic attempts to revive her, emergency responders arrived too late to save her. Since the incident, Claxton has refrained from speaking out on the devastating discovery or the ongoing investigation.
