If you think you’ve got a stressful job that really pushes the boundaries of what you’re mentally able to keep up with, spare a thought for Karoline Leavitt.
At just 28 years old, she’s serving as White House Press Secretary, the youngest person in history to hold such a position. There is quite literally never a dull moment in her position – but that doesn’t mean her days are filled with unending joy.
On the contrary, one can only imagine the mental gymnastics Leavitt must go through to reconcile her morality with the demands of her job. In her role she not only desperately tries to put out the many fires raging around the current administration, but she’s also forced to dress up blatant untruths in pretty bows and peddle her own untruths to save face for her superiors.
In short, it would be nothing short of a minor miracle if she wasn’t feeling the strain right now.
That said, none of this can have come as a surprise. She well knew what she was getting herself into when she took on the job of being Donald Trump’s mouthpiece.
One thing is certain, and that’s that Leavitt is in this for the long haul. She will go down with this ship, if and when it eventually goes down, and she’s quite happy burning any and all bridges for the future in the process.

In a twisted, leave-a-sour-taste-in-your-mouth sort of way, her loyalty is admirable. Inadvisable, of course, but she wouldn’t be the first to throw all of her eggs into a basket in danger of being dropped off a cliff.
Recently, Leavitt shared a few snaps from her personal life on Instagram, leading to speculation that she might be finally feeling the heat concerning the constant bombardment of stress she’s subjected to.
The press secretary first shared a quote from the Bible to her Instagram page reading: “For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
Then she posted a quote about motherhood: “What a privilege it is to have your bed taken up by a small human who thinks it’s the safest place in the world to be.”
Clinical psychologist Christine Schneider of the Cambridge Therapy Center shared her thoughts as to how Leavitt might be managing the heavy toll her position exacts on her.
Speaking to the Mirror US, Schneider opined: “Working as a Press Secretary means living under constant pressure. Every word, every facial expression, and every pause is dissected by the media and the public.
“That level of exposure can be incredibly demanding mentally.”
“Someone in Karoline Leavitt’s position likely faces chronic stress, anxiety around public performance, and exhaustion from the nonstop pace of her role.
“There’s often a need to stay composed no matter what’s happening behind the scenes, and that emotional control, while impressive, can come at a cost.”
She added: “It’s what psychologists sometimes refer to as emotional labor: the effort of managing one’s feelings to maintain a professional image.
“Over time, it can lead to burnout, irritability, and difficulty switching off after work.”
Just what Leavitt thinks about her job and the immense pressure she’s currently operating under, only she knows. One thing we can say beyond reasonable doubt is that things aren’t going to get easier anytime soon.
