Jim Carrey’s Sister Rita Passes Away over a Year After Her Wedding – Details

Remembering Rita Carrey: A Life of Love, Joy, and Selflessness

Rita Carrey, sister of actor Jim Carrey, has passed away, leaving her loved ones and fans mourning her loss just before her cherished holiday season. Her husband, Alex, shared the heartbreaking news on her Facebook page, honoring their 16 years together and their dream wedding, which took place last July.

In his emotional tribute, Alex described Rita as his “best friend, lover, and beautiful wife,” praising her kindness and devotion to helping others. Rita’s passion for Christmas was unmatched, and she celebrated it year-round, even starting a charity fundraiser to embody the holiday spirit of giving.

To honor Rita’s memory, Alex invited friends and family to a candlelight vigil on December 7, 2024, at Heathcote Terrace in St. Catharines. The event, combined with “Christmas on the Terrace,” will support Gillian’s Place, accepting donations of food, clothing, and gifts.

Rita’s life was filled with vibrant moments—from community celebrations to performing on stage—and her love for family and friends was evident in her heartfelt social media posts. Her infectious joy and selflessness will forever be remembered.
