Jill Biden, the first lady, underwent an outpatient Mohs surgery to remove a basal cell carcinoma lesion above her right eye. Her surgeon, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, confirmed that all malignant tissues were effectively removed, and no cancer cells were found in the margins.

Dr. O’Connor assured that no further surgery would be necessary and mentioned that a similar procedure was performed on a tiny lesion found on her left eyelid.

Although basal cell carcinomas don’t typically spread like more serious forms of skin cancer, the procedure was done as a precaution. This focus on health updates aligns with the Biden administration’s practice of keeping the public informed about routine examinations and minor surgeries.
