Jay Z and Beyonce appear to lose millions of followers after rapper is mentioned in Epstein files

Another release of the much-anticipated Epstein files has prompted widespread discussion and unchecked speculation after the Department of Justice made over three million documents public on Friday, January 30.

A whole raft of high-profile names are included in the unsealed files, which consists of emails, private messages, images, and videos connected to late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

Following mounting pressure, the DOJ released in the region of 3.5 million files. Some shed light on disturbing new details relating to Epstein’s sex trafficking scandal. Others amount to correspondence between some of the world’s most powerful figures and the disgraced financier.

Presidents Donald Trump and Bill Clinton appear in the documents, as do the likes of Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Prince Andrew, and Sarah Ferguson. It’s important to state that being mentioned in the files does not mean any crime was committed, though the internet has had plenty to say in the wake of the new information entering the public sphere.

Another notable figure named in last week’s release is rap icon Jay-Z, with one specific report – per Variety – detailing claims of abuse by Epstein and other individuals.

The report in question, focused on sex trafficking, includes the testimony given by a victim whose name is redacted from the document for legal reasons.

The victim claims to have been subjected to abuse in the early 1990s, specifically citing “parties” where the alleged abuse is to have taken place.

Following the incident, the victim is said to have contacted the FBI. She alleged that she was abducted and possibly drugged.

Included in the report is Jay-Z (real name Shawn Carter), the 56-year-old rapper, business man, and record executive. At no point in the document is Carter accused of taking part in the alleged abuse, but the document does claim that the music mogul was present during one of the abductions.

The document includes a paragraph that reads: “In approximately 1996, [REDACTED] resided with [REDACTED] in [REDACTED]. An unknown man abducted [REDACTED] from her home whence she later awoke in the presence of Harvey Weinstein and Shawn Carter (Jay-Z).”

Though we’ll take pains to stress again that no allegations against Carter have been lodged, the mention of his name was enough to raise questions.

That, in turn, has seen both Jay-Z and his partner, the equally iconic Beyoncé, suffer a dramatic drop in their Instagram followers. According to Instagram account Meyechel Gossips, the superstar couple’s reputation has taken a hit, at least in so far as their standing on the social media website is considered.

Before the release of the latest batch of Epstein files, Meyechel Gossips noted that Beyoncé had an eye-watering 320 million followers. For his part, Jay-Z had 4.4 million.

A more recent screenshot of their respective Instagram pages highlights that Beyoncé now has 308 million (a drop of some 12 million), while Jay-Z was hit even harder, falling to one million.

For the sake of propriety, we’ll remind readers once again that this does not prove that either Beyoncé or Jay-Z has committed any crime, only that that the court of public opinion has taken a very definite stance as relates to alleged contact or involvement with anything concerning Jeffrey Epstein.

In her testimony, the victim stated her belief that she had been abducted on at least seven occasions, waking up each time in “an opulent indoor setting”.

She further claims to have been the victim of drug abuse on multiple occasions, with Epstein accused of being one of the primary perpetrators. She said that so-called handlers – that is to say people who befriended the victims – administered the drugs she says contributed to her clouded memory of events.
