Greenland responds to Trump’s desire to acquire the land with savage 10-word statement

Greenland responded to the statement by Donald Trump that The United States will acquire their territory “one way or another,” with their Prime Minister, Múte Bourup Egede, writing “Kalaallit Nunaat is ours,” using Greenlandic for the “Land of People” or the “Land of Greenlanders,” as per AP.

Egede added: “We don’t want to be Americans, nor Danes; we are Kalaallit. The Americans and their leader must understand that. We are not for sale and cannot simply be taken. Our future will be decided by us in Greenland.”

His response, which was initially written in Greenlandic and Danish before being updated to include English, came following Trump’s message to the people of Greenland delivered on March 4.

Addressing the Congress, the POTUS said, “If you choose, we welcome you into the United States of America.

“We need Greenland for national security and even international security.

“And we’re working with everybody involved to try and get it. But we need it really for international world security.”

Further, he said, “We strongly support your right to determine your own future, and if you choose, we welcome you into the United States of America. We will keep you safe. We will make you rich. And together we will take Greenland to heights like you have never thought possible before,” before adding: “And I think we’re going to get it – one way or the other, we’re going to get it.”

Greenland is an autonomous country within the Kingdom of Denmark on several islands including world’s largest island by the same name.

It has been part of the Danish Kingdom for 800 years and is an integrated part of its country.

Denmark’s Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen said he doesn’t believe Greenlanders’ wish is to separate from Denmark in order to become “an integrated part of America,” adding that the elections in Greenland that are to take place next week should be fair and free of international intervention.
