from dream to reality

Monica Riley’s life once revolved around an extreme fantasy: to grow so heavy she would become completely immobile and dependent, celebrated in online feeder communities as she inched toward 1,000 pounds. With her partner Sid bringing her towering trays of fast food, desserts, and shakes, her weight surged to around 680 lbs (over 400 kg). She became bedridden, struggling to breathe, move, or care for herself, even as the attention and money from her online following poured in. The reality of that confinement, and the terrifying health risks, finally broke through the fantasy.

A turning point came when she realized that being trapped in bed for life was never truly what she wanted. She and Sid began to rethink everything, especially when they decided to start a family. Against doctors’ fears and public criticism, Monica became pregnant and eventually welcomed two children. Motherhood forced her to confront the cost of her old dream. Instead of chasing the scale upward, she shifted her focus to staying alive long enough to raise her kids. She began working to reduce her weight, adapt her eating habits, and reclaim some mobility. Today, she is no longer just “the woman who wanted to be the heaviest in the world,” but a mother fighting for a future with her children, trying to turn a story of self-destruction into one of fragile, hard-won hope.
