Garrett passed away on Sunday, February 8, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His mother, Carol Garrett, confirmed his death and said the family is awaiting official autopsy results to determine the exact cause.
Born Nolan Blake Garrett in Austin, Texas, he showed a love for performing from a young age. As a child, he appeared in local theater productions including Aladdin and His Magical Lamp and Peanuts: A Charlie Brown Tribute. He later performed in well-known stage shows such as The Wizard of Oz, Annie, and Grease.
One of his earliest big opportunities came at just 10 years old, when he toured nationally with Barney’s Colorful World International Tour, giving him professional experience on large stages and in front of wide audiences.
Breakthrough Role
Garrett became widely known to young audiences through the 2006 movie How to Eat Fried Worms, where he played the character Plug. The film, based on the popular children’s book, followed a new student who accepts a dare to eat worms as part of a bet with a bully.
