Footage of Trump boarding Air Force One spreads online — and the internet is united in its reaction

Over the weekend, former President Donald Trump briefly stumbled while boarding Air Force One in

Morristown, New Jersey, following remarks to the press before heading to Camp David.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who was traveling with him, also experienced a minor slip on the steps.

The incident, captured on video, quickly went viral online and drew millions of views. Reactions were divided,

with critics using the moment to question Trump’s fitness despite his reputation for being energetic and engaged at age 78.

Comparisons were soon made to President Joe Biden’s more notable fall on the same stairs in March 2021,

when he tripped multiple times while boarding the aircraft. That fall sparked widespread discussion about

Biden’s physical condition, with the White House attributing it to windy weather. During the 2024 campaign,

Trump’s team used Biden’s stumbles in ads that questioned his physical and mental readiness for another term.

Eventually, Biden withdrew from the 2024 race after a poor debate performance and later revealed he was battling

advanced cancer, which raised concerns about transparency. In response, Trump called for an investigation into

whether Biden’s staff had used an autopen to sign executive orders during his final months, suggesting deeper issues

of competence and honesty. Supporters defended the probe as necessary, while Biden’s allies labeled it a political attack.

Trump, who would be 82 by the end of his next term—the same age Biden was when he left office—is positioning

himself as vigorous and mentally sharp, contrasting Biden’s decline with his own image of leadership and resilience.
