Dad turned him in

Footage of the incident, along with the suspect escaping the scene, was blasted on TV and across the internet. The clip showed the man, dressed in a black T-shirt with an eagle and American flag, leaping from the roof of a UVU building moments after the shooting, fleeing into a wooded area with his face hidden behind dark sunglasses and a baseball cap.

When the images surfaced, one man immediately recognized him – his father.

“Tyler, is this you? This looks like you,” the father later asked his son, according to officials.

The young man then confessed to his dad, per CNN.
