Diane Keaton had a large passion for helping others. She regularly donated to charities helping animals and homeless people, and raised awareness through her social media channels. But Diane didn’t reveal everything she did for others. An owner of a food truck in Los Angeles now reveals Keaton’s incredible act, which has been a secret until now.
Diane Keaton passed away last weekend, aged 79. Late Wednesday, the family released a statement about the beloved actress, singer, and writer, revealing that the cause of death was pneumonia.
“The Keaton family are very grateful for the extraordinary messages of love and support they have received these past few days on behalf of their beloved Diane, who passed away from pneumonia on October 11,” the statement read.
Diane Keaton’s family also highlighted the causes she was passionate about:
“She loved her animals and she was steadfast in her support of the unhoused community, so any donations in her memory to a local food bank or an animal shelter would be a wonderful and much appreciated tribute to her,” the statement continued.
Diane Keaton was known for her passion for helping dogs and the homeless. While she never did it for publicity, a previously unknown charitable act of hers has come to light after her death.
Diane Keaton’s secret charitable act
Speaking with the Daily Mail, Evan J. Fox, the owner of Los Angeles-based food trucks Yeastie Boys Bagel, revealed how Diane Keaton personally fed the homeless at events connected to the non-profit organisation The People Concern, which supports victims of domestic violence and those experiencing homelessness.
“Diane was at the charity events herself, feeding the unhoused herself as well as coming on the trucks to help myself and our staff hand out food and take pictures with us,” Fox told the Daily Mail.
Fox met Diane Keaton at the set of her 2022 comedy Mack and Rita, and she later hired him to cater. The food truck owner explained that the actress was the driving force behind the charitable efforts, adding that she was “always so sweet and so cracious and so grateful” for what Fox did to help.
In the end, he is not taking any credit for the successful charitable efforts, but instead praising Diane Keaton. He stated she “spearheaded everything.”,
‘Diane was at the charity events herself, feeding the unhoused herself as well as coming on the trucks to help myself and our staff hand out food and take pictures with us,’ Fox said.
“She will live in our hearts forever”
Evan J. Fox also revealed that the food truck honors Diane Keaton with a special bagel sandwich called “The Diane Bagel.” They have also written a tribute to the late actress on their Instagram page.
“The Diane Bagel is always available at our trucks as an off menu item. But honestly, we are getting so much demand for it that I think I wanna put it as a permanent fixture on our menu and call it the Diane. She will live in our hearts forever,” Fox told the Daily Mail.
Rest in peace, Diane Keaton.
