Christina Applegate, diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2021, revealed she has been hospitalized over 30 times since. Her latest
stay became the setting for a recent episode of her MesSy podcast, cohosted with Jamie-Lynn Sigler, recorded from her hospital room.
Applegate explained she had just returned from Europe when she developed severe pain on her right side — “a pain I’ve never felt before,”
so intense she was “screaming.” Refusing to leave until tests were done, she underwent an emergency CT scan at 2 a.m. Doctors diagnosed a kidney infection
requiring intravenous antibiotics, though further tests are exploring other possible causes she chose not to share publicly to avoid alarming fans.
She emphasized the podcast recording wasn’t planned for dramatic effect, but simply coincided with her hospital stay.
“They won’t let me leave yet because things are messy. But I’m going to be okay,” she reassured listeners.
In a statement to USA Today, Applegate confirmed she spent seven days in the hospital before returning home. The update comes as she
continues to navigate life and work while managing MS, keeping her sense of humor and determination despite ongoing health challenges.
