Bridesmaids star responds after being only member of cast not at Oscars reunion

Fans of Bridesmaids were treated to a nostalgic moment at the 2026 Academy Awards when several stars from the film reunited on stage to celebrate its 15th anniversary.

Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Rose Byrne, Maya Rudolph, and Ellie Kemper shared laughs and playful jokes while presenting awards, evoking the humor that made the film so beloved.

Their lighthearted skit included witty lines and mock “letters” from fellow actors. The segment was warmly received, quickly becoming one of the night’s most memorable moments.

However, fans immediately noticed the absence of Wendi McLendon-Covey, prompting curiosity among longtime followers of the cast.

Shortly after the event, McLendon-Covey explained her absence on social media. She revealed that she had recently undergone a minor cosmetic procedure and needed recovery time, preventing her from attending the ceremony.

Fans responded positively to her honesty, praising her openness and sense of humor. Many appreciated her direct explanation instead of a vague excuse.

Although she was not physically present, her contribution to Bridesmaids remains integral to the film’s legacy. The reunion underscored the lasting bond between the cast and their audience.

The moment reminded viewers that even when not everyone can attend, the connection between cast members endures, and the humor and camaraderie of the film continue to resonate years after its release.
