Patrick Muldoon, the beloved actor widely recognized for his memorable roles in Days of Our Lives, Melrose Place, and Starship Troopers, has tragically passed away at the age of 57 following a heart attack.
According to a report by TMZ, the fatal incident took place at Muldoon’s home in Beverly Hills. His sister, Shana Muldoon-Zappa, shared that he had spent Sunday morning drinking coffee with his girlfriend before heading in to take a shower.
When he was gone for an unusually long period, his girlfriend grew concerned and went to check on him. She discovered him unresponsive on the bathroom floor. Paramedics were immediately dispatched to the scene, but despite their exhaustive efforts to resuscitate him, he sadly could not be saved.
Muldoon’s acting career kicked off early; he secured a role on the hit sitcom Who’s the Boss? while he was still a college student. He later portrayed Jeffrey Hunter on Saved by the Bell before finding massive success and recognition in the world of daytime television.

He became a familiar and cherished face on Days of Our Lives, portraying the good-hearted Austin Reed from 1992 to 1995, and reprising the character a decade and a half later from 2011 to 2012.
Reflecting on his return to the daytime soap opera, Muldoon once remarked, “It was like going to high school. It’s strange, but really you kinda want to pinch yourself. The same people are there, the people I really enjoyed in the ’90s I still enjoy working with today.”
He also showcased his versatility by stepping into the role of the villainous Richard Hart on the hit primetime soap Melrose Place between 1995 and 1996.
On the silver screen, he is perhaps most fondly remembered for his turn as Zander Barcalow in the 1997 cult classic sci-fi movie, Starship Troopers.
I’ve always been a comic book fan,” he shared in a 2012 interview. “I’ve always loved that [science fiction] stuff even as a kid. To be able to play these types of roles as an adult is a real treat for me.”

Muldoon maintained a steady and consistent career in film and television throughout the 2000s and 2010s. His acting credits during this time included features like Marlowe, Vanquish, Dakota, and Murder at Hollow Creek.
Beyond his work in front of the camera, Muldoon expanded his talents into producing, developing various projects under his Storyboard Productions banner. He was actively involved in several upcoming films, notably Kockroach, an anticipated project starring Chris Hemsworth, Taron Egerton, and Zazie Beetz.
Up until his passing, Muldoon remained deeply active in the entertainment industry. His final film, Dirty Hands, is currently slated for release later this year.
He leaves behind his partner, Miriam Rothbart, his parents, and his sister Shana Muldoon-Zappa, along with her extended family.
