Why Michael Strahan Has to Miss ‘Good Morning America’

Michael Strahan, the popular co-host of “Good Morning America,” has been noticeably absent from the show since late last month, leaving viewers and fans wondering about the reason behind his extended leave.

In a statement provided by an ABC spokesperson, it was confirmed that Strahan will not return to “Good Morning America” this week due to some personal family matters. The spokesperson expressed appreciation for everyone’s thoughts and concerns during this time.

Although the broadcaster is currently healthy, he has chosen to take some time away from the show to address a private matter. This decision has led to a temporary shift in the show’s lineup, with other ABC anchors stepping in to fill Strahan’s role in his absence.

Strahan, a former professional football player, became a full-time co-host on the morning news show in 2016 after departing from “Live With Kelly and Michael.” His charismatic and engaging presence has been a significant part of the show’s appeal.

Aside from his role on “Good Morning America,” Strahan has also been absent from his position as an analyst on “Fox NFL Sunday” for the past two weeks. Curt Menefee, a Fox Sports commentator, mentioned during a recent broadcast that Strahan’s absence from the show is due to him “dealing with a personal family matter.”

Reps for Strahan have chosen not to comment on the specifics of the personal family matter, maintaining privacy during this time.

In addition to his professional roles, Strahan is a devoted father to four adult children, Tanita, Michael Jr., Isabella, and Sophia. He shares his two older children, Tanita and Michael Jr., with his first wife, Wanda Hutchins, who he was married to from 1992 to 1996. His younger daughters, Isabella and Sophia, are from his second marriage to Jean Muggli, which lasted from 1999 to 2006.

“Good Morning America” continues to air on weekdays at 7 a.m. ET on ABC, but fans eagerly await Strahan’s return to the show. As a respected and beloved figure in the world of morning television, Strahan’s absence has created a void that both the network and its viewers hope will be filled again soon. For now, the show carries on with the support and understanding of its audience.

The reasons behind Strahan’s leave remind us that even our favorite television personalities face personal challenges. “Good Morning America” continues its mission to provide viewers with the latest news and engaging content, with the hope that Strahan will soon return to his cherished role on the show.
