Best Natural Home Remedies To Safely Remove Skin Tags

Skin tags, medically known as acrochordons, are small, benign skin growths that commonly appear where skin rubs against skin or clothing. They often develop on the neck, underarms, eyelids, groin, and other skin folds. Although harmless and not medically dangerous, many people choose to remove them for cosmetic reasons or because they become irritated.

If you prefer gentle, at-home approaches instead of clinical treatments, several natural remedies are often used and may help gradually when applied consistently.

Tea tree oil is a popular option because of its natural antiseptic and drying properties. Start by washing the area with mild soap and water, then pat it dry. Apply one or two drops of tea tree oil directly to the skin tag, allow it to air dry, and cover with a bandage. Repeat twice daily. Over time, the tag may dry out and fall off.

Apple cider vinegar is another common remedy. Its acetic acid may help break down the tissue of the skin tag. Soak a cotton ball in apple cider vinegar, place it on the tag, and secure it with a bandage for about 30 minutes. Rinse afterward. Use once daily for one to two weeks, depending on your skin’s sensitivity.

A paste made from castor oil and baking soda is also believed to help. Mix until thick, apply to the tag, cover with a bandage, and leave overnight. Wash off in the morning. Daily use may gradually shrink the growth.

Garlic, known for its strong natural compounds, may also help. Crush a clove, apply a small amount to the tag, and cover for about an hour before washing off. Use cautiously, as garlic can irritate the skin.

For gentler options, try banana peel or vitamin E oil. Place the inside of a banana peel over the tag overnight, or massage vitamin E oil onto the area daily to support natural drying and healing.

Always keep the area clean and avoid cutting, pulling, or twisting skin tags, as this can cause bleeding or infection. Stop any treatment if irritation occurs.

See a healthcare professional if a growth changes color, grows quickly, becomes painful, bleeds, or if you’re unsure whether it’s truly a skin tag. Professional advice ensures safe and proper care.
