Woman falls in love with “sad” cat at shelter that no one wanted to adopt

Where one person sees ugliness, another might see beauty. That was the case when Francisca Franken first laid eyes on her cat Bean.

Franken first spotted Bean on her local shelter’s website.
She was immediately smitten by the cat and fell even deeper in love when she learned about Bean’s story.

Bean had been in the shelter for almost a year because no one thought she was cute. She had been called “grumpy-looking” and “ugly.”

But Franken didn’t see Bean that way at all.
And it made her sad to think that others did. So, she adopted Bean. Bean was able to fill a hole left by Franken’s other cat Joker.

Joker is Franken’s cat that lives with her parents. But since Joker is an outdoor cat, she felt bad taking him to live in a small flat when she moved out of her parents house.

She later moved into a larger flat so she could adopt a cat.
“I wasn’t planning on getting one right away, because it’s always a commitment. Well, that was until I saw Bean’s picture while browsing my local shelter’s website one night,” Franken said.

“I saw her photo and fell in love the second I saw her. Well, at first, I laughed because the pictures were so funny and I’d never seen a cat like this before.”

Franken immediately sent all of her info to the shelter in hopes that they would let her adopt Bean.
The fact that the shelter labeled Bean a “diva” or that the exotic shorthair had some health issues didn’t deter Franken from wanting to give Bean a forever home.

The shelter staff called to confirm whether Bean was, in fact, the cat that she had wanted to adopt.

They were a little surprised since no one else offered to take her.
“The woman who called me was scared that I just pressed the wrong button or something and was not really interested in her at all. I teared up at the thought of poor Bean having nobody that wanted to love her, so I directly made an appointment with them for the 8th of January,” Franken said.

Franken said she got all dressed up to impress the shelter staff in hopes that they would see her as the perfect adoptive parent for Bean.

Franken was moved to tears when she finally got to meet Bean face-to-face.
Bean was even cuter than Franken imagined she would be. It was love at first sight.

She ended up hanging out with Bean for a few hours.

The shelter staff was more than happy to let her take Bean home, seeing how much she cared for the tiny stubby-legged cat.
And Bean was just as taken with Franken as Franken was with her.

She was very affectionate and had her purr motor revving when she was close to Franken.

Bean was a very curious kitty and immediately started to explore Franken’s apartment once she arrived.
She slept in bed with Franken that night.

“She would not leave my side one second. I think it’s because she was afraid I would bring her back to the shelter if she wasn’t all cuddly and stuff, but soon realized that she could just be herself and started embracing more of her sassy diva-like personality. That’s when I knew she was finally home,” said Franken.

Franken says that adopting Bean was “the best thing to happen to me.”
