Influencer dies in home birth tragedy after “extremely rare complication”

Australian influencer Stacey Hatfield passed away shortly after giving birth, at just 30 years old. She gave birth to her firstborn, Axel, at home before she tragically died after an “extremely rare complication.”

Australian influencer Staety Hatfield died suddenly on September 29 after giving birth to her son, Axel. She had experienced rare complications following the birth, which took place in her and her husband Nathan’s home.

Nathan Warnecke shared the devastating news through Instagram. In a long post, he said how Stacey had dreamed of becoming a mother for years. The little boy lived.

“It’s with a heavy heart that I share with you the unexpected passing of my beautiful wife, soul mate and best friend, Stacey,” Nathan wrote.

“Stace passed on the 29th September 2025 after successfully giving birth to our firstborn son, Axel, at home. Tragically, shortly after, an unforeseen and extremely rare complication arose and she passed after being transferred to hospital. Hospital staff were amazing and did the utmost to help, but ultimately nothing could be done despite their best efforts.”

“I knew Stace for 9 amazing years, she was the light of my life and the reason I got up in the morning,” Nathan wrote, adding that Stacey “loved her son Axel so much.”

Hatfield, a Melbourne, Australia-based nutritionist, had built up a large following on social media. She was famous for her website Natural Spoonfuls and shared many recipes for healthy food on social media.

On her website, Stacey wrote, “My personal health journey began due to a never-ending cycle of digestive issues, skin problems, a lack of energy, low immunity, moodiness & unwanted excess weight (the list goes on!).”

Ambulance Victoria spoke to Yahoo News, where they confirmed they were aware of the incident. However, they were unable to comment on the case for privacy reasons.

A GoFundMe page to support Nathan and baby boy, Alex, has been set up. The description reads that Nathan and Stacey were “soulmates,” who “shared a love for travel, their dog Winter and living a simple, quiet life.”

“They had a goal to buy a house, but their dream was to one day build a home and raise a family. They were excited for the birth of their child. Stacey, however, was only able to experience the joy of her new baby boy for a few short moments,” organiser Jon said.

“Now, Nathan has a newborn baby and is left to navigate life from here as a single father. The challenge to provide all that a young child needs without his soulmate is a daunting one, whilst dealing with such a tragic loss. Late-night feedings, nappy changes and adjustment to this new life are a heavy burden for a young father even with the support of family.”

At the time of writing, the GoFundMe has brought in 28,000 Australian Dollars, around $18 000.

Rest in peace, Stacey.
