Comedian Steve Bridges found dead on his couch

US comedian Steve Bridges, who achieved viral fame via his popular TikTok videos, has died at the age of 41.

In a post on his Instagram page on Friday, October 17, Steve’s wife, Chelsey Bridges, revealed that her husband had passed away “peacefully in his sleep” on Oct 15.

The pair, who share three children, had been married for 16 years, since well before Steve became known to internet audiences the world over through the comedic POV-style videos that he put out on his social media platforms.

On Instagram and TikTok, the 41-year-old had built a following of over 2 million via videos wherein he reenacted everyday scenarios, adding his own funny spin and creating memorable characters to tackle relatable problems.

Chelsey would also regularly appear in the videos, portraying other characters in his POVs.

In the emotional post announcing her partner’s shock death, Chelsey said: “I’m really sorry to get on and tell you this, this way.

“I think if I wait any longer, I’m not going to be able to do it.”

She added: “Who you saw online was just the characters that he created. He was so talented because he was the opposite of all of them.”

“He was the most attentive father, and the best, the best husband,” she continued. “And the greatest, sweetest man. And thanks to you internet, he’s been able to live his dream of making people laugh. I am so thankful that he got to do that.”

Reports claim that Steve passed away unexpectedly in his sleep and was found by Chelsey on the sofa at home in Peoria, Illinois.

According to a statement from the Peoria Police Department, the comedian is believed to have died of natural causes. Chelsey revealed that three of Steve’s family members had also died young, including his grandmother, father, and grandfather—all of whom passed away in their forties or early fifties.

Fans across social media reacted in shock upon hearing of Steve’s death, sharing clips of his memorable skits and expressing gratitude for the humor and lighthearted fun he brought to their lives.

Rest in peace, Steve Bridges.
