Ozzy Osbourne’s ‘forgotten’ daughter reveals ‘traumatizing’ moments in his final years

Often called the “forgotten” child, eldest daughter Aimee Osbourne is breaking her silence, revealing that her father Ozzy’s final years were “soul-destroying” to the rock legend as he became “checked out” and “traumatized” by his rapidly failing health.

While most of the world got an intimate look into the Osbourne family’s chaotic and colorful home life through MTV’s The Osbournes, one member was notably absent: Aimee Osbourne.

The eldest child of rock legend Ozzy Osbourne and TV personality Sharon Osbourne, Aimee made the conscious decision to step away from the spotlight, famously refusing to participate in the family’s hit reality show when it premiered in 2002.

In a 2021 interview on Q104.3 New York, per Hello!, Aimee, now 42, explained that being a reality star “didn’t really line up with” her “morally” or “personally.”

“It definitely worked great for the rest of my family, but for me and who I am, I just knew it was something that I wouldn’t have been able to consider realistically,” said the publicity-shy Aimee. “It didn’t really line up with what I saw my future as.”

And as soon as MTV’s cameras rolled into the Osbourne home, Aimee made her exit. “Obviously, I would have liked to stay at home a little longer,” she told the Independent in 2015, “but it wasn’t to be.”

Health decline

While she’s largely remained in the shadows, Aimee is now stepping forward with powerful, deeply personal insights into her father’s final years in the new documentary Ozzy: No Escape from Now, that premiered October 7 on Paramount+.

The documentary reveals a side of the Prince of Darkness that fans rarely saw – one filled with physical pain, emotional trauma, and ultimately, acceptance of mortality.

Aimee recounts the turning point in 2019, when Ozzy suffered a devastating fall that fractured his neck, requiring intensive surgery and long-term hospitalization.

“He’s had so many accidents that I’ve witnessed. But you could tell this one was not one he was necessarily going to get away with in the same way,” Aimee said in the doc, describing her dad’s decline as “quite shocking.”

The injury aggravated lingering damage from his near-fatal 2003 ATV accident and marked the beginning of his physical decline.

‘His biggest heartbreak’

While the cameras weren’t rolling, Aimee remained close to her father as his condition worsened, offering quiet support through the most physically and emotionally grueling period of his life.

According to People, at the time of his fall, the “Paranoid” singer was forced to cancel the North American leg of his “No More Tours 2” tour, which was “his biggest heartbreak” and “soul-destroying” for him, Aimee recalled.

“He was in hospital for weeks,” she remembered, adding that her father was “traumatized” about “not being able to bounce back like he had in the past.”

“He was in great distress and a lot of pain…I can’t imagine many people are used to seeing their parents like that.”

Adding to that, Aimee’s mom Sharon – married to the Grammy-winning artist since 1982 – said, “After three months we brought him home, but the pain just never subsided. It was unbearable constantly, and I know Ozzy’s a drama queen. He’ll do anything for a pain pill, but it was for real.”

“You can’t enjoy anything,” Ozzy chimed in of the pain.

“My mom’s role has been maintaining control of all the moving parts of this,” Aimee shared, explaining his decline has been “heartbreaking and terrifying,” especially for her dad, who’s health battles left him “checked out.”

‘Cheated death so many times’

In 2020, as he struggled to recover from a host of ailments, the “Crazy Train” singer confirmed he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease back in 2003 – a secret he had carried for years.

“I’m no good with secrets,” he confessed via People. “I cannot walk around with it anymore ’cause it’s like I’m running out of excuses, you know?”

Speaking with the LA Times in Feb. 2020, Ozzy said: “I’m not dying from Parkinson’s. I’ve been working with it most of my life. I’ve cheated death so many times. If tomorrow you read ‘Ozzy Osbourne never woke up this morning,’ you wouldn’t go, ‘Oh, my God!’ You’d go, ‘Well, it finally caught up with him.’”

On July 22, 2025, “it finally caught up with him” – Ozzy Osbourne died at 76, marking the end of one of rock and roll’s most influential artists.

In a statement, his family said: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.”

With Aimee’s rare and raw reflections, Ozzy: No Escape from Now offers more than just a rock star’s farewell – it’s an unfiltered look at the man behind the music, seen through the eyes of the daughter the world barely knew.

Please let us know what you think of Aimee’s memories of the legend’s final years and then share this story so we can hear from others!
