Millions of people worldwide are mourning the death of Charlie Kirk after the conservative political influencer was shot and killed during a Utah Valley University event on Wednesday.
Social media has been filled with rage over the killing, and President Donald Trump has made several comments, including those blaming “the left.”
Now, author Michael Wolff, who has written several books on Trump, has criticized the president for his responses after the shooting.
Donald Trump has been very invested in the killing of Charlie Kirk. The president made several statements about the conservative political influencer’s death, including announcing, before even the authorities had, that they had the suspected shooter in custody
When Charlie Kirk was pronounced dead, Trump released a statement from the Oval Office.
“To my great fellow Americans, I am filled with grief and anger at the heinous assassination of Charlie Kirk on a college campus in Utah. Charlie inspired millions, and tonight, all who knew him and loved him are united in shock and horror,” Trump said in a video published on social media.
“Charlie was a patriot who devoted his life to the cause of open debate and the country that he loved so much, the United States of America. He fought for liberty, democracy, justice, and the American people. He’s a martyr for truth and freedom, and there’s never been anyone who was so respected by youth.”
President Donald Trump blamed “radical left” after Charlie Kirk killing
While both Democratic and Republican leaders have condemned the murder of Kirk, the killing has led to political polarization on social media. Exactly why suspected shooter Tyler Robinson, said to have turned himself in on Friday, killed Kirk is not known, but even before his arrest was made, Trump blamed the “radical left” for obstructing the healing.
