When Stacey Terry and her husband picked up breakfast from McDonald’s, they expected biscuits and hash browns—not thousands
of dollars. Instead of food, their bag contained a deposit meant for the bank, mistakenly handed to them at the drive-thru.
Miles away before they realized, the Terrys faced a decision many would struggle with. But for them, there was no question.
“As soon as he stated that it was their deposit, my first instinct was to get in the car and let’s take it back,” Stacey told News 5.
When they returned, the staff member who made the mistake was visibly shaken. Losing that money could have cost her job.
The Terrys reassured her and hoped no one would face consequences. McDonald’s thanked the family publicly,
praising their integrity and promising to review procedures to prevent such errors.
The incident struck a chord with many, serving as a rare reminder of honesty in a world often dominated by stories of greed.
The Terrys didn’t seek a reward—they just wanted to do the right thing. Their story has become
a local symbol of integrity, proof that even in unexpected situations, character shines brightest.
