Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) is more than a baking ingredient—it’s a safe, natural, and affordable way to combat common household and garden pests.
How It Works When ingested, baking soda reacts with acids in a pest’s digestive system, creating gas they
can’t expel—leading to internal pressure and death. How to Use It: Cockroaches Mix equal parts baking soda and sugar.
Place in shallow containers near sinks, trash, or dark corners. Ants Mix baking soda with powdered sugar. Sprinkle along ant trails or entry points.
Slugs & Snails (Garden) Lightly sprinkle baking soda around plants or directly on pests.. It dehydrates them, acting as a natural repellent.
Other Uses. Fleas: Mix with salt, sprinkle on carpets, vacuum after 24–48 hours.Bedbugs: Sprinkle around mattress seams (mildly effective).
Mice: Some mix it with sugar/flour, though not very reliable. Why Use Baking Soda?
