King Charles Hospitalized for Short Stay During Ongoing Cancer Treatment

King Charles III was briefly hospitalized on Thursday due to temporary side effects from his ongoing cancer treatment, Buckingham Palace confirmed.

The 76-year-old monarch underwent a scheduled medical procedure earlier that morning as part of his continued care. Following the treatment, he experienced minor complications that required a short hospital stay for observation.

After being monitored for a brief period, King Charles was discharged and has since returned to Clarence House, his residence in London.

Due to the hospitalization, King Charles’s scheduled engagements for Thursday afternoon and Friday were postponed.

“His Majesty would like to send his apologies to all those who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result,” the palace said in a statement per GMA.

Charles was initially hospitalized in January 2024 for a planned procedure to treat an enlarged prostate. During his stay, an undisclosed form of cancer was detected, and his treatment began on February 5. He subsequently canceled all in-person engagements and resumed his public duties in April 2024, starting with a visit to a cancer hospital in London alongside his wife, Queen Camilla.
