In 2013, Australian social entrepreneur Elliot Costello visited a Cambodian orphanage and met a 10-year-old girl named Thea.
After losing her father, Thea was sent to an orphanage where she endured two years of abuse. Despite her trauma,
Thea’s resilience and joy inspired Elliot. During their time together, she painted one of his nails, and he promised to keep it that way to remember
her and her suffering. Motivated to create change, Elliot founded **Polished Man**, a movement where men paint one nail to symbolize the one
in five children who experience sexual violence. The campaign challenges men to take a stand against child abuse, raising awareness and funds
for prevention and recovery programs. Celebrities like Chris Hemsworth, Zac Efron, and Kelly Slater have joined the cause.
Since its launch, Polished Man has raised $8.7 million to support survivors and prevent violence. Through this movement,
Elliot continues to honor Thea’s story and advocate for a safer world for children
