The Trump inauguration ceremony earlier this week was viewed by millions of people not just in America but all over the world. People tuned in to watch Donald Trump take office with First Lady Melania Trump by his side.
As high-level government officials, politicians, and various celebrities gathered in Washington, D.C., for the festivities, people were tuned in to see how everything went.

Some viewers, however, had an interesting conspiracy theory they felt they needed to share with the world. Keep reading to learn more.

Melania Trump’s outfit for her husband, Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony earlier this week has been a major topic of discussion. While some believed the returning First Lady was making a bold fashion choice, others think there were different intentions behind the outfit choice.

Melania Trump wore a wide-brimmed dark-colored hat paired with a matching dark coat and black leather gloves. Social media users very quick to provide their two cents on what they believed the outfit to look like with some even comparing her look to that of McDonald’s ‘Hamburgler’ character.

But while some people were making harmless jokes about her choice of fashion for the big day, others were using it as proof for a conspiracy theory where some believe that Melania Trump has a body double. Those who believe the theory believe that Melania left her husband, Donald Trump, years ago, and there is now a body double for the First Lady who attends public gatherings at President Donald Trump’s side. Some others who believe the theory think the reason for a body double is because of the attempted assassination attempt on Trump last year, which prompted the use of a body double. Both conspiracies have never had any substantiation to them.

One person wrote that Melania’s choice of fashion did little to dispel the widespread body double conspiracy. They posted on X, “That Bolero hat Melania is wearing won’t do much to dispel the rumors that she has a body double#TrumpInauguration2025,” one person wrote.

Another user wrote in favor of the body double theory relating to the assassination attempt, “Interesting outfit today. That hat is so low on her brow, you cannot see her face clearly. I honestly feel like that’s a body double and not the real Melania. Wouldn’t surprise me if Trump knew of threats to assassinate him and decided not to put her in harms way.”

Another person posted with a lot of gusto, “THAT IS NOT MELANIA THEY PUT HER IN THE OPPENHEIMER A– HAT BECAUSE SHE LEFT TRUMPS A– AND THEY PUT A BODY DOUBLE IN HER PLACE BUT IT DOESNT RLLY LOOK LIKE HER SO THEY PUT HER IN THE OPPENHEIMER A– HAT SO THE MEDIA CANNOT TELL.”

Others were suspicious because according to them D.C. weather did not require a hat, one user wrote, “the melania body double only person wearing a hat in DC today”

But others were not as enthusiastic about this theory and had questions. One user questioned why the First Lady would miss out on such a momentous occasion, they wrote, “Bologna! There’s no Melania body double! Why would she miss all the fun??”

While another added, referring to the conspiracy theory, “Are you seeing the BS that is going around saying that hat and outfit was hiding a body double for Melania? Insanity[.] The ears tell the story”
