Storing Fresh Eggs

Eggs are a beloved ingredient in many dishes, but proper storage is key to maintaining their freshness and safety. Here are some essential tips to keep your eggs in excellent condition.

Refrigeration is Key: Store raw eggs in the refrigerator at 35°F to 40°F (1.7°C to 4.4°C). Keeping them in their original carton “helps protect against strong odors” and extends freshness for 3-5 weeks.

Hard-Boiled Convenience: Hard-boiled eggs are a quick, convenient meal. Store them in airtight containers in the fridge, and they’ll stay fresh for up to a week.

Cooked Eggs: Allow cooked eggs like scrambles or omelets to cool before sealing them in containers. This “simple step” ensures they remain edible for 3-4 days.

Liquid Eggs and Replacements: Unopened liquid eggs can last a week past the “sell-by” date, but once opened, use them within two days. Egg replacements have a longer shelf life of 10-14 days when refrigerated.

Preventing Bacterial Growth: Store eggs below 40°F (4.4°C) to prevent bacterial growth. Remember, “bacteria thrive in warmer conditions,” so be cautious in warm climates.Following these practices ensures your eggs stay fresh and safe to enjoy!
