Why you need to try putting your top sheets on upside down

For many of us, making the bed is a tedious chore. Even though many of us learnt the basics, it doesn’t necessarily make the task any easier today.

Typically, the average bed setup includes a fitted sheet, a top sheet, and either a quilt, comforter, or duvet.

While you don’t need a degree to make your bed, there are some useful tips and tricks that can make the process more efficient. Surprisingly, many people unknowingly place their top sheets inside out. Can you believe it? Here’s why…

According to Southern Living, the key is that the patterned side of the top sheet should face downward. While this might initially seem counterintuitive, it makes perfect sense when you fold the top sheet over the duvet, comforter, or quilt. This way, the patterned side will be visible, adding a decorative touch to your bed.

The best method? Folding the top sheet down an inch or two over the top of your quilt. If you then fold the top sheet and quilt together once more, your bed will start to resemble the neatly made beds you find in hotels. What could be better than that?

These simple housekeeping tips can significantly enhance the appearance of your bedroom, making it look thoughtfully put together rather than hastily assembled. Additionally, some recommend using two pillows with pillowcases that match the sheet set, along with two pillows that match the quilt or duvet cover.
